ETCHING GLASS

Etching Cream with a Resist Technique

Types of etching cream:

Armour Etch

Etchall

Professional 30 second cream by Martronics

These work on dichroic and light colored transparent glass

Will not remove iridized coating

Do not use a metal spoon - it destabilizes the chemical

Types of resists:

Masking tape

Contact or vinyl  paper - use exacto knife, paper punches

Decals - cut to edge of design

Rubber stamps with SOLVENT ink - use large wide design

EtchAll resist gel

Staedtler Permanent Red Marker

Sharpie Marker

Welbond Glue (I have not personally tried this)

Photopolymer Masking (you have to find a class on this)

Dremmel or Engraving Tool Technique

Works best on dichroic or iridized glass

Prefer medium size ball tip

Freehand drawing or can felt tip marker/rubber stamp pattern first

I am sure there are many other ways, these are just the ones I have tried.
