TGAA Merit Program

The Texas Glass Artist Association Merit Award System provides recognition to members for their:

·        Service to the organization

·        Participation in club activities

·        Involvement in glass art education

·        Participation in glass art competitions, exhibitions and gallery showings.

This program has three recognized levels:
 
Level 1 – Glass Craftsman – 50 Merits. This level is for a person who works with glass as a hobby.  Requirements – 5 points for tips and tricks, 5 points for product review and 2 points for show and tell.

Level 2 – Glass Artist – 100 Merits. This level is for the serious glass artist who has committed themselves to this art form.   Requirements –  5 points committee member, 5 points for web site submission, and 5 points for school or classes. 

Level 3 – Elite Glass Artist  - 200 Merits.  This level is for the professional glass artist who makes a significant income from the sale of their art. Requirements – Artist must be represented by at least one gallery full time. 5 points. , artist must sit as an officer on the executive board. 50 points or a long term committee member 15 points and be a speaker at one meeting. 5 points.

Merit points are reported and accumulated for all active members and are a part of the organizations permanent record even if a member's status becomes inactive. Club members who reach a particular merit level are awarded an insignia that will designate your level of achievement.

·        Food – Food or refreshments that are brought in for the monthly TGAA meetings and or TGAA shows. Participating members will be given (1) merit.

·        Item for Name Tag Drawing – Items pertaining to glass / glass art brought in by any member to be given away to another member or guest as a door prize. Participating members will be given (1) merit.

·        Speaker or Speaking – Any member who volunteers to present a program or is able to bring in a guest speaker for the monthly TGAA meetings. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Committee member short term – Any member who sits on a Temporary committee. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Committee member long term – Any member who sits on a permanent committee lasting a 6 month term. Participating members will be given (15) merits for each term.

·        Shows or Gallery – Members participating in any TGAA show or any single event gallery showing where the artist is present at time of showing, i.e.: Main street art festival participant or Fort Worth Gallery Night. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Tips & Tricks – Any submissions to Tips & Tricks that is posted. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Product Review - Any submissions to Product Review that is posted. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Web Site Submission - – Any submissions to the web site that is posted i.e. Gallery page, Artist bio, or other submissions. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Bring in New Member – Any member that is responsible for recruiting another member. Participating members will be given (5) merits.

·        Publications – Member having art/articles published in publicly sold or distributed book, newspaper, magazine or glass journal.  Participating members will be given (5) merit/s for each publication

·        Attending Meeting - Participating members in attendance will be given (1) merit. Attendance taken from sign in sheet.

·        Number of Years a Member – Participants will be given (2) merits for each year of membership.

·        New Member – All new members who wish to participate will be given (3) merits.

·        Show & Tell – Members that bring in new work or information pertaining to the glass artist for show and tell will be given (2) merits.

·        School or Classes – Attending accredited all day seminar, workshop or classes. Participating members will be given (5) merits for each day in attendance with a maximum of (25) merits.

·        Officer’s Seat – Member must sit on the executive board as an officer for one term. (50) merits

·        Web Hosting – Member must host our web site for a period of one year (50) merits.

                                           

Instructions for Claiming Merits

1.     It is not necessary to report your attendance at regular TGAA meetings; attendance will be taken from the sign in sheet.

2.     It is how ever the member’s responsibility to report any other merits that he/she has earned. Please use the TGAA merit reporting form.

3.     Any merits earned in one month must be turned in by the end of the next month, i.e., merits earned in May must be turned in by the end of June.

4.     Any member requesting a Merit for attending school, classes, show’s, competitions or gallery events. Please attach a photo copy of receipt to merit reporting form.

5.     All merits are subject to review and approval by the Executive Board.

6.     Merits will be prorated if the assigned position or duties are not adequately filled or accomplished. (Subject to review of the Executive Board.)


TGAA Merit Reporting Form

Merits can be earned by participating in nearly any kind of glass activity. Please be very specific, i.e. dates, locations, etc. in describing those activities you participated in during the month.
